5 Ways To Make 2015 Your Best Year

I'm not someone who makes new years resolutions. I feel you can make a change at any time throughout the year and don't need to wait till the start of January. Towards the end of 2014 I made a change in my life and I continue to take that with me throughout 2015.

1) Think Positive
In the latter months of last year I decided that I needed to change my thought process. I was very much a glass half empty person. Actually it was probably more like 'the glass is half empty so whats the point?' It came after a tough year full of rejection (the joys of being a graduate) and nothing going the right way. I was sick of feeling down and decided to take charge of my thoughts instead of them taking charge of me and how I was feeling. I will continue to take this with me through 2015. It's by no means easy but it's worth it.

2) Stop Comparing
We're all guilty of comparing our lives to others at some point. One thing to remember is that no two lives are ever identical and why would you want to be anyone else when you can be you! Your life and your experiences are what make you unique and no-one knows your story better than you do. Thanks to social media we find ourselves comparing our lives to someone else's highlight reel and that can be destructive. Try to remember that people only post what they WANT to share, and probably wont post their insecurities or down days. Comparison is the thief of joy and don't let anyone take your joy away.

3) Just Say Yes!
I'm guilty of having a bad case of the "what ifs" I over think and talk myself out of things quite easily. I'm making a conscious effort to say YES to more experiences (within reason of course). I convince myself into thinking that I know what I like and what I don't, but the truth is that unless I try more I won't know. I was scared to blog for so long talked myself out of it so many times, but I love it and wish I had started earlier. Let's step out of our comfort zones, who knows where it could lead.

4) Let It Go
Sorry to anyone who is sick of Frozen by now. I'm making a conscious effort to let go of the past, to forgive, forget and move on. I'm someone who holds on to things and over time it eats away at me and before I know it, it starts to affect me. I need to learn to let things go and move on. This is a hard one but I'm giving it a go and not letting anything hold me back.

5) Stick Up For Yourself
I've always been somewhat of a walkover, I always tend to back down and let people get away with things. Lately I've been sticking up for myself more and more and it's helped me become the woman I want to be. It's taken a long time but at 24 I've learned that this is really important.

Do you make resolutions or goals?

  2. Great tips. I totally agree with you about sticking up for yourself, I used to let things go too easily just for an easy life but standing my ground really did me a lot of good and I moved on from some nasty people in my life too!

    Happy New Year!
