Superfacialist Rose Hydrate Cleanser

I'm a big fan of the Una Brennan Superfacialist line, the products are effective and great quality. The best part is that they're available at Boots (hello 3 for 2 offer). I've mentioned my love for the Deep Flower mask and cleanser before. The latest product I have been trying is the Rose Hydrate Cleanser. 

Rose Hydrate Calming Creamy Cleanser

This cream cleanser breaks down any make-up or debris and leaves skin clean without feeling tight. Washed away easily with a damp flannel or muslin cloth it definitely feels like a treat for the skin. The cleanser is thick and creamy and I've found it works just as well as more well known cream cleansers almost double the price. This product will work particularly well for dryer skin types, however it did not aggravate my combination skin. The calming ingredients do just that, and I've found it helped with any pesky redness I was experiencing. I must say that this cleanser does have a strong rose scent which I'm not the biggest fan of, but I'm willing to let that slide as it washes away well and the results are impressive. Another hit by Una Brennan I would definitely repurchase. My Superfacialist shopping list gets longer as I work my way through the line.

Skincare For Blemish Prone Skin

There are endless magazine articles and advertising campaigns misinforming us about the needs of blemish prone skin. Some products targeted at oily skin types actually are doing worse for the skin leaving it stripped of moisture. I'm going to start off by saying oily skin needs to be moisturised too and you shouldn't look for a squeaky clean feeling after cleaning. Below are some skincare products which will work well for blemish prone skin, and any skin type really, any age can use these also.

Cleanser
I like to use this Una Brennan Superfacialist Tea Flower cleansing wash, it contains salicylic acid to treat difficult skin. It is a lightweight gel cleanser which when rubbed into the skin, easily washes off with a muslin cloth. This product leaves skin feeling clean yet not tight or stripped of all moisture. Not the best at removing make up though. I use this whenever my skin is looking unbalanced, and leaves my skin looking and feeling fresher.

Spot Treatment
I enjoy using this spot treatment by lush. Grease Lightning is a clear gel which targets breakouts. It is gentle yet effective. The treatment takes the swelling out of blemishes without completely drying out the surrounding skin, leaving it flaky. Works well under make up during the day as well as overnight. You get a good amount of product for the price and lasts ages.

Serum/Treatment
You can use the La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo as an all over facial treatment or just in the t-zone. It is non sticky, non drying and light. It not only unclogs and purifies pores but helps with future and existing breakouts. This product gets rid of dry skin cells helping skin look clearer and softer. Can be used night or day and works well under make-up. The Effaclar Duo helps to control excess sebum production and is definitely worth trying if you have oily or blemish prone skin.

Moisturiser 
There are a few moisturisers which are suitable for a oily skin, I'm a big fan of the La Roche-Posay Effaclar Mat. However I have fallen for the Vichy Normaderm Total Mat anti shine gel. I have repurchased this twice. The first was during the heatwave last year when I was desperate for an effective matte moisturiser. This product is very light weight, fresh feeling and absorbs quickly into the skin. It leaves skin matte and has a blotting effect. During the heatwave it kept my skin shine free and dry to the touch, and removed any oil or sebum. This product is also paraben free. I have noticed that on the Escentual website there is a new and improved version to this, if the original is anything to go by it's definately worth a try.

Ahh February, you've been cold, grey and wet, but here's a few items which have been putting a smile on my face.

This month my skin has been acting a little strange, very oily in patches and dry in other areas. The Una Brennan Superfacialist Tea Flower Pore Purifying Clay Mask has been doing a good job at deep cleaning and balancing my skin. It removes grime from clogged pores, gets rid of any oil and dries up blemishes. This mask has been in my arsenal for a while now and has become my go to face mask when I feel my skin looking dull. The price point (£8.99) makes this even better as it is effective yet affordable. It washes off easily with a damp flannel or muslin cloth and does not leave my skin red afterwards. Sometimes I just use this on targeted areas such as my t-zone. I would recommend this if you have oily skin.

This moisturiser is one for us lazy girls/guys, I'm one of those people who always forget to moisturise. Let's face it, after a bath or shower you just quickly want to get dressed and get warm again. I saw this Vaseline Spray and Go Moisturiser on offer in boots at the start of February and thought I'd give it a try, not to mention the television advert makes the application look so effortless. I can say that I have been enjoying using this, it really does absorb into the skin quickly meaning you can get dressed almost immediately. My skin feels nourished and smooth for hours, I will definitely be trying out the other scents.

I always end up trying products after there has been a huge hype about them, I tend to stand back, wait for everything to calm down, then feel ready to try them out. This happened with the Revlon Lip Butters, I've had this one for a few months now but only really started to use it this month. I have a couple shades but this one in 'berry smoothie' is my favourite. My lips have been very chapped lately and apart from lip balm I haven't been using many lip products as some just made them feel dryer. This lip butter however, helped keep my lips hydrated and added a 'my lips but better' colour. Perfect for everyday.

I was recommended this Soap and Glory Thick & Fast Collagen Coat Mascara by a friend, and I'm so glad I tried it. I'm not normally a fan of many drug store mascaras, there are a few I will repurchase but most just don't do enough for my lashes. Soap and Glory are one of my favourite brands, they seem to have so many hits. This mascara is very reminiscent of a Clinique one which I love. The formula is very wet and the unique brush allows voluminous lashes to be achieved very quickly.

Lastly, I have been enjoying reading The Great Gatsby again, this is one of my favourite books, such a beautiful story. I felt like reading it again as I've been watching a lot of Leonardo DiCaprio films lately and swooning. Will this finally be his year at the Oscars?
