Pick Up A Crayon

If you haven't noticed that every brand and their sister have come out with a lip crayon, then where have you been? Some may argue that it's overkill whereas some may like the wide choice available. I'm somewhere in the middle, I love a lip crayon and find them convenient to use, however there do seem to be a lot of them on the market lately, which makes choosing one difficult. Here I will be comparing a few from a range of different prices. The best part about all of these is there is no sharpener needed, just twist at the bottom.

Clinique Chubby Stick £17
The one that inspired them all. Clinique were one of the first brands to bring out a lip crayon. Praised for their innovation, hydration and convention, other brands took note and released their own. I am a fan of the Chubby Sticks, I find the colour selection beautiful and you'll most definitely find one you like. They also have an 'intense' version with more of a colour pay off. The hydrating properties are very impressive, and so is the lasting power. These Chubby Sticks do have a distinct scent which I don't really mind. The only thing I don't like about these crayons are how they wear. I find I have to reapply as soon as the colour and shine wears away a little as it starts to look patchy quickly.

Soap and Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Gloss Stick £8
Lets try and forget the ridiculous name and focus on the product. These are more of a balm-gloss hybrid and not sticky in the slightest. In fact they feel quite comfortable on the lips. The colour selection is very limited however they are all very wearable and will suit almost any skin tone. The vanilla scent and taste is very pleasant and not overpowering at all. I'm very impressed with this offering by Soap and Glory and keep one in my bag at all times.

No7 High Shine Lip Crayon £9
A new offering by No7 as part of their summer collection, most of the colours are very bright and appropriate for summer. One of the most pigmented crayons of the bunch, I tend to apply it and then blend it with my fingers. These are also very glossy and not sticky in the slightest. Very comfortable to wear when the weather is warm. It wears nicely and evenly leaving a hint of colour behind. One thing that annoyed me with this is the colour of the lip which is supposed to match the crayon, doesn't do so. The packaging promises a warm toned pink, but the crayon itself is a more bright pink shade.

Revlon Colorburst Balm Stain £7.99
This is one of my most used lip crayons as I just love the colour. The shade Honey is a perfect 'your lips but better shade' and very wearable. This one is slightly different to the other crayons as it lightly stains the lips with a hint of colour. Once the balm has worn off, lips are left with subtle tint. I find the Revlon Balm Stain to be the most long wearing and keeps the lips hydrated. What I like about these are the colour of the packaging matches the lip colour very closely, unlike with the No7 lip crayon. Taking into consideration the price I think this one is well worth the money.

What's On Your Nails Right Now?

Revlon Vintage Rose is a polish that I have been enjoying wearing this week. The colour is perfect for summer and compliments many skintones. Whilst wearing this polish it attracts many compliments and people inquiring about what the shade is called. For someone who doesn't wear a lot of pink, this is a perfect medium between a wearable pink without being too girly.

The Revlon Colorstay stay formula is very impressive, almost gel like in finish and extremely shiny. The brush is wide and applies smoothy with one swipe. I like to apply 2 coats of this, but when in a rush I have applied one coat very quickly and it was not streaky at all. Even without a top coat the polish lasts a good few days with minimal chipping.

Clinique Take the Day Off Cleaning Balm (nearly empty)
I've probably only got a couple uses of this left, but I'm going to add it in anyway. I won't write too much about this as I have already reviewed it in depth here.  I will say that this little baby is a pain to get hold of, its constantly sold out. My search to repurchase this starts now. This luxurious balm is similar in texture to coconut oil, as it is solid at first but melts into a rich oil as soon as it touches your skin. It is perfect to use for facial massage as melts away make-up and daily grime effortlessly. Fragrance-free; it is suitable for most skin types. I can't rave about this enough.

Pixi Glow Tonic
My holy grail skin care product. Since I started using this my skin has been looking and feeling so much better. It's changed the way I look at toners. A full review here. This product is definitely worth the money, this bottle has lasted me over 4 months and it is gentle enough to be used every day.

Pulp Friction Body Scrub
Brilliant name, brilliant product. After working this body scrub into the skin it lathers up into a lovely foam. A unique, great smelling product everyone would enjoy using.

Revlon Lash Potion
I love Revlon mascaras. My favourites will always be Clinique mascaras and I rarely buy drug store ones but this offering by Revlon is truly beautiful. The wand is easy to use, not too big or small, makes application easy a mess free. It doesn't clump and with even one coat adds volume. I've really enjoyed using this and would definitely buy it again. Not to mention the packaging is so pretty.

Super Dr Nicholas Perricone Hyper Hydrator
I picked this up from Tk Maxx just after Christmas and have been using it almost everyday since. It was a bargain price and I have been keen to try a product by Dr Nicholas Perricone for a while now. It was successful at keeping my skin hydrated all day throughout the winter months. I very much enjoyed using this moisturiser, the scent was very pleasant and reminded me of holidays. Which was miles away from the grey and wet British weather we were experiencing at the time. I am disappointed the Super range has been discontinued and I wished I had purchased up another tub of this.

Ahh February, you've been cold, grey and wet, but here's a few items which have been putting a smile on my face.

This month my skin has been acting a little strange, very oily in patches and dry in other areas. The Una Brennan Superfacialist Tea Flower Pore Purifying Clay Mask has been doing a good job at deep cleaning and balancing my skin. It removes grime from clogged pores, gets rid of any oil and dries up blemishes. This mask has been in my arsenal for a while now and has become my go to face mask when I feel my skin looking dull. The price point (£8.99) makes this even better as it is effective yet affordable. It washes off easily with a damp flannel or muslin cloth and does not leave my skin red afterwards. Sometimes I just use this on targeted areas such as my t-zone. I would recommend this if you have oily skin.

This moisturiser is one for us lazy girls/guys, I'm one of those people who always forget to moisturise. Let's face it, after a bath or shower you just quickly want to get dressed and get warm again. I saw this Vaseline Spray and Go Moisturiser on offer in boots at the start of February and thought I'd give it a try, not to mention the television advert makes the application look so effortless. I can say that I have been enjoying using this, it really does absorb into the skin quickly meaning you can get dressed almost immediately. My skin feels nourished and smooth for hours, I will definitely be trying out the other scents.

I always end up trying products after there has been a huge hype about them, I tend to stand back, wait for everything to calm down, then feel ready to try them out. This happened with the Revlon Lip Butters, I've had this one for a few months now but only really started to use it this month. I have a couple shades but this one in 'berry smoothie' is my favourite. My lips have been very chapped lately and apart from lip balm I haven't been using many lip products as some just made them feel dryer. This lip butter however, helped keep my lips hydrated and added a 'my lips but better' colour. Perfect for everyday.

I was recommended this Soap and Glory Thick & Fast Collagen Coat Mascara by a friend, and I'm so glad I tried it. I'm not normally a fan of many drug store mascaras, there are a few I will repurchase but most just don't do enough for my lashes. Soap and Glory are one of my favourite brands, they seem to have so many hits. This mascara is very reminiscent of a Clinique one which I love. The formula is very wet and the unique brush allows voluminous lashes to be achieved very quickly.

Lastly, I have been enjoying reading The Great Gatsby again, this is one of my favourite books, such a beautiful story. I felt like reading it again as I've been watching a lot of Leonardo DiCaprio films lately and swooning. Will this finally be his year at the Oscars?
